BT2211 Bioethics

Human has benefitted greatly from the progress in life sciences. We have seen tremendous progress in the entire spectrum of life, from agriculture to medicine. The progress enable human to do what is once considered impossible. Animal cloning implies that human cloning is possible. However, should we clone human? What are the impacts of human cloning? Or should we edit the gene of human embryos to create super human? Is genetic modification on animal and plants justifiable? This course will teach students to identify, deliberate, and discuss different ethical issues due to advance in biotechnology. Universal Declaration of Bioethics and Human Rights will be used as a compass to discuss the issues.
